Summer Visiting Youth from around the country are scheduled throughout the summer for weeklong mission trips.

Activities include serving meals, day camp counseling, and learning about urban issues related to poverty, homelessness and aging at placements with Buckner International, North Texas Food Bank, The Stewpot, and Grace Presbyterian Village.

Youth experience one week of “urban reality” with sleeping arrangements provided by First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, which is across the street from The Stewpot. An established curriculum is provided along with one staff member to help guide the group during the week.

The group serves as dinner volunteers for The Stewpot's Second Chance Cafe and then works with the children who live in or near downtown shelters in the afternoons. In the morning, the group volunteers at Dallas agencies that serve domestic violence victims, senior citizens and other at-risk groups. Each group is invited to a party hosted in their honor by First Presbyterian Church members at the end of the week.
